Russian National Ballet bring The Nutcracker
RUSSIAN National Ballet will be at Loughborough Town Hall this month with The Nutcracker – the festive family favourite.
The production will be taking to the stage on October 15, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
Featuring a timeless score from incredible composer Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky, Nutcracker is a certified classic, replete with evocative music and beautiful dance.
Set designer Lubov Sidelnikova said: “The Nutcracker - a delightful and kind fairy tale with a gemstone of Tchaikovsky’s music.
“Therefore, I wanted to embed the set design of the ballet as perfect dream of a flawless world where everyone is happy, and good always triumphs over evil.”
The Christmas story is based on ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’ written by E.T.A. Hoffmann.
It tells the story of Marie, a rather sad little girl, whose godfather Drosselmeier gives her a Nutcracker doll as a present on Christmas Eve which turns into a prince and the magic starts.
When midnight strikes, the world turns all magical in the wintry glitter of Christmas Eve and toys come alive.
Please note the performances will not be accompanied by a live orchestra.
