■Its name was shortened from Quorndon in 1889.
■The original name is said to derive from the Old English cweordun. Dun, Old English for Hill, where cweorn, Old English for millstones, are quarried.
■It has its own primary school St Bartholomew’s and secondary school, Rawlins Academy.
