WHERE CARRIE AND DEBBIE WERE REUNITED

-

Star Wars fans were shocked when Princess Leia actress Carrie Fisher died late last year following a heart attack, aged just 60.

Sadder still, her mother – 1950s Hollywood star Debbie Reynolds – also passed away just a day later following a stroke at her ranch in California.

Mother and daughter both had stellar careers. High points for Debbie included starring in 1952’s hit Singin’ in the Rain alongside Gene Kelly, while Carrie shot to fame as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, and last year’s Rogue One.

Both women had troubled lives. Debbie’s husband and Carrie’s father, Eddie Fisher, left her for Elizabeth Taylor, while Carrie was bipolar and, despite her success as an author and actress, had a history of drug dependency.

Mother and daughter were estranged for more than 30 years but more recently became close, and Debbie’s 44-acre ranch in California is where they caught up.

The property includes the main house with its own theatre, library and gym, plus a guest house, art studio, barn and TV studio.

Also for sale is Debbie’s dance studio, which she hired out to many stars including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cher and Mariah Carey.

Both properties, plus many personal items belonging to both women, are due to be auctioned in two lots during a three-day stint under the hammer starting on October 7.

The two properties are expected to fetch between $10m and £16 million.
