Town Ladies secure three points against Melton

-

LOUGHBOROUGH TOWN LADIES 1XI 3 MELTON 0 LOUGHBOROUGH Town set out for their second game of the season against Melton having already bagged three points from their season opener two weeks ago.

With 90 of the 100-goal target for the season left, the side were keen from the start to get some goals scored and to put more points on the table.

The start was slow as Melton employed a strong defence when Town were on the attack, although they soon managed to start working the ball round them. The first goal of the match came from Emily Hill, who managed to trap the rebound from the goalie and fumble the ball across the line after a strong strike from defender Helen Lowe.

With one already on the score sheet the team were keen to increase the score line further. With several missed opportunities Town were relentless in their efforts to get another goal.

Abi Jewkes in only her second appearance for the club scored Town’s second goal from a well-executed short corner routine that passed the ball around the players at the edge of the D.

At half time coaches Pete Fitton and Adam Lamb set out three key areas for improvement: composure, movement off the ball and individual play. With this in mind the ladies set off strongly again but were unlucky in the attacking D with many balls being crossed in, just missing the goal as Melton employed a “park the bus” style of defending.

However, the team were not discouraged and player of the match Emily Hill cemented the score line with a strong hit to the corner of the goal leading the side to a 3-0 win.
