Crime stats unveiled at meeting

IN THE space of a month, Shepshed saw seven acts of criminal damage, a burglary and a variety of different thefts.

Leicesters­hire Police revealed at Shepshed Town Council’s latest meeting that between September 10 and October 10 there had been:

• A burglary at Stableford Close that saw a window smashed but no property taken

• The theft of a bike in Market Place

• A shed break-in in Glenfields that saw a motorbike stolen

• Five thefts at stores; two at Asda in Charnwood Road and three at the Co-op in Anson Road

• Three thefts from motor vehicles; a Sat Nav was stolen in Domont Close, four pallets were taken from the Industrial Estate and car parts were removed from a vehicle in Queen Street

• Two thefts of motor vehicles; a van was taken in an estate off Leicester Road and a car was stolen (which has since been recovered) in the Buttercup Lane housing estate

• Other thefts include; the theft of money from a bus in Anson Road, the theft of cable in the Buttercup Lane housing estate and the theft of number plates in the Fairway Road estate.

Seven criminal damage incidents also took place within the time frame.

A motor vehicle was scratched in Leicester Road, a vehicle had its tyres slashed in the Buttercup Lane housing estate, bins were set on fire in Field Street, a garage had its windows smashed in Moorfield Place and a vehicle had its windows smashed in Thorpe Road.

Garden lights were also damaged in Longcliffe Road and windows were damaged in Charnwood Road.
