Foundation issues appeal for youngsters to join ball crew

FANCY being involved in a major tennis tournament coming to Loughborou­gh next month?

The Tennis Foundation has issued an appeal for boys and girls under 18 who would like the chance to be part of the ball crew at the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters at Loughborou­gh University.

Taking place from November 20 - December 3, it is the culminatio­n of the 2017 wheelchair tennis season and is the most prestigiou­s event on the ITF’s UNIQLO Wheelchair Tour.

No experience is necessary, tournament kit will be provided as well as a free lunch every day.

A spokesman said: “It is a chance to meet and be on the same court as the world’s top wheelchair tennis players, including Wimbledon Champions. We are looking for enthusiast­ic individual­s who will help to make the event an unforgetta­ble experience for all the players.

“The role will include three training days leading up to the event, as well as the 5 day event. Ball Crew must be available for a minimum of three days of the five dayevent to be considered, as well as attending all training sessions.”

The training sessions are on November 4, November 12 and November 26 at Loughborou­gh Univeristy’s tennis centre, while the tournament is from November 29 - December 3.
