LICHFIELD 3RD XI 3 LOUGHBOROUGH

TOWN 3RD XI 1 LOUGHBOROUGH Town headed to Lichfield this week eager to get a win on the board but a sluggish start allowed Lichfield to punish early with a quick break leading to a penalty flick, putting Town 1-0 down.

Despite this, Town regrouped well and played some of the best hockey they had played all season, putting Lichfield under a lot of pressure for the remainder of the half.

Excellent movement up front led to many scoring opportunities, but they were unable to cross the goal line in the first half.

After a welcome break at half time, Town came out strong and a great deal of hard work from everyone up front led to more scoring opportunities and the occasional short corner for Town, although still unable to score.

Lichfield seemed to wake up after half time, and came back hard, earning themselves a second goal early in the half.

Town regrouped, however, and soon answered with a slightly scrappy but no less well-deserved goal soon after. Boosted by the goal, Town started to feel like this was still a game they could win, but Lichfield had other ideas, and punished Town almost immediately with a quick break leading to a goal.

Despite their best efforts, Town was unable to answer this latest attack, and finished the game 3-1 down.
