AGM for WI group

-

THE October meeting was the Annual General Meeting of Loughborough Ladies WI.

The outgoing Committee was re-elected with a vote of thanks for the hard work put in by them to make the group the success it is.

This was followed by members working on their Lovely Boxes Appeal, decorating and filling Christmas boxes with presents they had donated for ladies at a local Women’s Refuge. More than thirty boxes will be delivered in time for Christmas to ladies who often leave home with very little.

The programme of meetings for 2018 was also circulated, with another year of interesting and wide ranging topics and activities, including a talk about the life of Coco Chanel, container gardening and a visit from a local chocolatier.

The November meeting will be held on Thursday, November 2. Dr K. Ette will give a talk about Word War One Remembrance.

The group will be participating in the annual Christmas Tree Festival at All Saints Church Loughborough, from 29th November to 3rd December 2017.

The group’s Christmas meal will be held on Thursday, December 14, at the Radmoor Restaurant. All members who have given a deposit for this event should bring the outstanding balance to secure a place to the November meeting.

The new venture into skittles continues with a match against Kegworth WI at the Peacock Inn, Loughborough on 31st October 2017.

There are a number of Clubs run by the Group, including a Book Club, Coffee Club, Cinema Club, Craft Club and Theatre Group.

The Cinema Club has not met for a while, but intends to re-start during the winter. Any member with suggestions of forthcoming films to see should bring them to the next meeting or give their ideas to a member of the Committee.
