Members tread the boards again for a gala evening
A KEGWORTH drama group is staging a gala evening to showcase the talent on the society and some of the longer standing members, who usually do not appear on stage, will tread the boards once more.
From Thursday, November 9, until Saturday, November 11, the Kegworth Players will be at Kegworth Village Hall celebrating 70 years of productions.
There will be performances from both new members and longer standing ones, and the evening will be filled with sketches, songs, monologues and even some dance.
The society will also be displaying some of the archive materials - includ- ing the programme from the first ever production - and its more unique and fantastic costumes in the hall.
Brenda Naomi Moore, founder member and secretary of the society, who previously appeared in the Echo sharing her memories of the group from over the years, said: “Having celebrated our 50th and 60th anniversaries, when so many more of our founder members were still with us to celebrate – our 70th year only empha- sises the loss of many of the original stalwarts of the society.
“In particular our founder member and producer extraordinaire, the late Margaret Wood who is especially remembered this year and to whom we all owe a great debt of gratitude for her inspirational leadership, dramatic skills and encouragement which set the style of the society.
“However, in our 70th year, the society is a very lively and thriving one, fun and challenging to which to belong, welcoming and friendly to any new members, with an exciting future before us and the opportunity to continue to entertain our loyal audiences for the next 70 years.”
Doors open for the gala shows at 7pm and curtain up at 7.30pm. Tickets, £9, available on the door or from Homelet in Kegworth.
