Review of exhibition

-

IN PLACE of the normal Monday evening meeting, the Committee of Sileby Photographic Society met on Monday, October 23, to review, amongst other items, the society’s Annual Exhibition which was held during the previous week, 16th to 21st October, at the Community Centre in the village.

This was the society’s 63rd Exhibition, an event which has been held annually in the village since its inception in 1955, and continues to attract public support year-in, year-out which, in itself, justifies the tremendous amount of hard work undertaken by members in staging such an event.

A ‘just for fun’ competition in the form of the ’12-Shot Challenge’ was offered to the public for them to cast their vote on who they considered to be the winner and, as usual, their choice differed from the official judging which had been carried out prior to Exhibition week.

Pam Darby’s Board K received most of the public votes, with Richard Storier’s Board H (the official winner), and Trevor Allman’s Board D, being placed 2nd and 3rd respectively.

All in all, the exhibition had been a great success. The many prints (monochrome and colour), together with the projected digital images and the audio visual show ‘Charnwood – Part 1’ produced very positive feedback which was encouraging to Society members.

Due to a change in the published programme, Alun Williams, one of Sileby’s own members, will present a selection of images under the title ‘Africa’s Southern Soul 2017’ at the meeting held on Monday, November 6.

Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome to attend the meetings which commence at 7.45pm for 9.00pm and are held at the Sileby Community Centre.
