Loughborough Echo

Filming is due for completion

A CRIME feature film, set in and around Loughborough, is scheduled to be completed in November.

Exactly two years after crews started shooting, Raya Films’ Do Something, Jake will be showcased to the public.

The film, scripted by Caroline Spence, tells the story of an unemployed introvert, unable to read or write, who draws on his ingenuity when the woman he secretly loves is threatened in a world of criminals.

Scenes for the production were filmed at the old school in Quorn and apartment blocks and pizzerias in Loughborough.

Writer and director James Smith, whose parents live in Quorn, previously told the Echo: “Over the years I have got to know Loughborough and I thought it would be a good place to film.

“The people are so receptive here, more so than other parts of the country, and very creative.”

The team behind the film are targeting three initial screenings: Loughborough (The World Première at Cineworld), London, and New York.

A crowdfunding campaign is to fund the Loughborough première, whilst it is hoped that knock-on promotions and media buzz will generate demand for London and New York.
