Nobody listens to the residents
THE issue Mr Paul Snow raised in his letter of October 25, is the issue I have been raising for a long time with the Charnwood Borough Council and through the columns of the Loughborough Echo.
We are the rate payers of this borough and nobody listens to our grievance.
At SARG meetings we hear all the platitudes from students representatives and university staff on every issue we raise.
If we contact the council, for example on the issue of green and black bins left on the pavements, reply we will receive is, “we will have to send a letter to the residents and action will be taken after 30 days.”
Why bother contacting the council!
Every morning we will have people classified as “Street Wardens” who will walk the streets, issuing fines for the overstayed motorist but turns a blind eye to the obstructions caused by the bins on the pavement.
In the Storer Ward we have two Charnwood Borough councillors and a county councillor representing us. Do they care about the plight of the rate paying residents of this so called “Golden Triangle?” A term coined by the estate agents to make profits.
These were areas once, with vibrant communities, until deregulations and profits before people became the norm. Walk the streets in the Golden Triangle and see for yourselves the bins on the pavements, toppled bins with all its contents on the pavements and the graffiti on the walls of the houses.
To add to what Mr Snow was told by a resident in his area, may I also point out that, a friend who complained about the music and another neighbour’s children frightened by the noise was told, “in that case, you should not have bought houses in this area.”
When will the authorities address these problems? I live in hope!
