Remembering them
CROWDS of people joined the Remembrance Sunday services and parades across Charnwood last Sunday (November 12).
The Loughborough parade was organised by the Royal British Legion, and started from the Market Place and included serving and exservice personnel from more than 25 uniformed organisations.
The Remembrance service was held at the Carillon Tower, Queen’s Park, at 10.45am and led by Reverend Wendy Dalrymple, Chaplain, Royal British Legion, Loughborough Branch and Rev David Owen, Mayor’s Chaplain.
MP Nicky Morgan was also in attendance at Shepshed and Loughborough for the moving events.
The Mayor of Charnwood, Coun Pauline Ranson said: “As Mayor it is an honour and a privilege to be able to play a role in the Remembrance events which recognise the brave men and women who have fought and died for our country in conflicts around the world.
“The Remembrance service and parade in Loughborough has grown to be one of the biggest in the East Midlands and is always a poignant reminder of the human cost of war and that their sacrifices should never be forgotten.
“There are still many conflicts taking place throughout the world involving the services of men and women from our nation, conflicts in which our men and women have lost their lives which in turn mean there are many families who have been affected in some way or another and your support remains very important and needed.”
