Rubbish strewn all over the pavement
I AM writing in response to and in support of, previous correspondence to your newspaper with reference to the (ongoing) problem of left out wheelie bins and rubbish in the so called ‘Golden Triangle’ area of Loughborough.
I live at Charnwood Forester End and have to make the daily commute on foot to work via Havelock Street and Oxford Street.
Each morning having to battle my way through wheelie bins left out in front of people’s property and rubbish strewn all over the pavement.
The photos that I have taken are from the said streets on Saturday 11th November.
For a council that states it is committed to providing a clean and tidy environment for all residents it will be interesting to see how long it is before all of this is cleaned up and cleared away? I don’t hold my breath on it being either a) Very Quickly and b) Permanently?
However, having said this, I believe that Charnwood Bor- ough Council should be more proactive rather than reactive when it comes to this habitual problem.
Local councillors and Street Wardens need to be knocking on doors speaking to (mainly) students, it is no coincidence that these problems are in a heavily populated Student area, giving warnings, handing out fines and if all else fails contacting the Landlords of these properties.
These people who are making vast profits from letting out said houses but don’t have to live amongst their tenants and in OUR community.
Rather than the usual platitudes from our Local Authority let’s hope that we finally see some action and as they say, ‘Actions Speak louder than words’.
I look forward to seeing not hearing their response.
