Positives for Town 2nd XI despite defeat

LOUGHBOROUGH TOWN 2ND XI 2

BEESTON 2ND XI 5 A GAME of two halves best describes this local encounter, with Beeston stuttering to a 5-2 win.

Unfortunately, the game started in familiar fashion with Town being 1-0 down inside the first five minutes. Poor tackling by Patel gave the away side their first penalty corner of the match. This was duly dispatched past post man Hits Patel.

Town quickly levelled the scores when an energetic Stuart neatly deflected in from close range.

Tireless running from Parry, Livingston, Lamb and Stuart in midfield restrained Beeston, however indecisive passing and ill judged tackling from Patel gave the away side three more penalty corners.

With another goal conceded for good measure just before half time, it looked like Town’s worst defeat of the season was on the cards.

Town started the second half all guns blazing. It wasn’t long before top scorer Guest added to his season tally.

A powerful run by star defender Thomas was duly rewarded when Guest received a pin point pass, allowing him to side step the Beeston keeper and flick in to an empty net.

More chances were to follow with Lamb and Stuart coming close.

Unfortunately, the home side could not find another goal, but winning the second half against the best team in the league gives the team a huge confidence boost which they will take with them next week when the face Warwick University.
