LOROS staging its annual Light up a Life service

-

REBECCA Iley, 28, will be among those remembering that special someone at LOROS’ annual Light up a Life service this Christmas time.

The event, which is this year taking place on Sunday, December 3, gives everybody, regardless whether they have experienced LOROS or not, the chance to come together and remember someone.

Visitors have the opportunity to sponsor a light on the hospice’s Christmas tree, with the lights being switched on at the service.

Rebecca Iley, of Quorn, who has helped promote this year’s event, after her dad, Steve, died at LOROS in April last year, said: “Everyone knows how hard Christmas time is when you’re missing that special someone; Christmas will always be different, it will be different forever.

“Light up a Life is a fantastic opportunity to come together, with others who are in a similar position, yet there’s no need to talk about why you are there, you just know you’re all there to remember that special person.”

As well as a light being lit up in memory of loved ones, the name of that person will be added to our Book of Remembrance, which will be placed in the LOROS chapel for visitors to view over the festive period.

“In what can be a chaotic time over Christmas, Light up a Life gives us a chance to take a step back, switch off, reflect and remember those who are missing,” added Rebecca, who is now an ambassador and volunteer for the hospice. Light up a Life really is a special occasion.”

While the service will be taking place on the Hospice grounds, outside, the hospice will be open for those that wish to visit the chapel.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, December 3, in the Hospice grounds, with the service starting at 4.30pm.

If people don’t want to attend the service but would like to remember a loved one by donating to the Light up a Life campaign, they can do so either online or by calling the LOROS fundraising team, up until January 31.

To sponsor a light, or for more information on the event visit loros.co.uk/LUAL or call 0116 231 8431.
