Last gasp goal gives 2nd XI win

WARWICK UNIVERSITY 2ND XI 0 LOUGHBOROUGH

TOWN 2ND XI 1 LOUGHBOROUGH Town left it late, very late but managed to secure all three points away at bottom of the table Warwick University.

In a below par performance, the away side couldn’t find any rhythm or continuity. However, a penalty stroke from club captain Matt Parry two minutes from time broke the hearts of the home side.

A poor first half saw few chances created for Loughborough. After 20 minutes Warwick could and should have taken the lead. However, man of the match Vish Dhutia in goal once again came to the rescue. First at penalty corner, then a double point blank saves from close range.

The second half was of a similar affair, however more chances were being created by Town. The best of these both fell to captain Guest. A missed tap in at the back post was followed up by a shot that flew over the bar from less than a metre out.

With two minutes left, a mazy run from debutant Henderson created space for Parry. The pin point pass left Parry through on goal. A poor tackle from the Warwick Uni defender resulted in Parry being upended.

It was no surprise a penalty was awarded after some deliberation. Parry kept his cool to fire the ball in to the top corner.

Not a great performance from Town but an important three points away from home. With a number of new faces in the squad, it is important the side gel quickly.
