Driving through the village can be a nightmare
I READ with interest the letter from Richard Burton in the Loughbor
ough Echo (November 22).. I completely agree with his comments and whilst I appreciate that houses need to be built and we welcome all newcomers to the village no thought has been given to the current infrastructure.
Driving through Sileby is a nightmare at times and this does not take into consideration the flooding and sometimes closure of Slash Lane.
My wife likes to support the local shops and is happy to walk to them because you cannot park anywhere during the day. The car park at Tescos always seems to be full and I think a lot of this is to do with travellers going into the city by train.
Delivery trucks seem to park where they like with the worst being along by the brook, blocking viewpoints. If you must deliver and park on the roads why not have someone directing traffic?
We like Sileby for what it offers, but someone needs to look at the infrastructure as soon as possible.
The access road into the village via the bridge and upto and including the junction at the church is an accident waiting to happen with the sheer volume of cars using it during the day and at peak times it is worse.
I remember reading in an newspaper article that a developer was to spend more that £1 million on infrastructure improvements to this village, including more than £200,000 on transport initiatives and traffic calming. Have I missed these alterations?
