Person rescued from blaze

-

A PERSON was rescued from a caravan that was in flames at a park in Barrowupon-Soar.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue services told the Echo that two fire engines were called to the incident at Proctors Park on Saturday afternoon, November 25.

A spokesperson for the service said that a person was in the caravan when they arrived, and that the person was rescued before being given treatment for smoke inhalation.

Fire services told that Echo that it was not yet clear what the cause of the fire had been.

The caravan park is a large site in the Soar valley next to the river Soar.

The park has space for camping and touring caravans as well as static caravans, boat moorings and fishing. East Midlands Ambulance services said that a double crewed ambulance was sent to the incident, but that no-one was taken to hospital.

Richard Jayes, who lives in Barrowupon-Soar, said that he saw the flames from his window.

He said: “It was about noon on Saturday and I was sat in my living room and could see the smoke rising from the caravan park. The flames were huge and the smoke was billowing out of the caravan, I was just hoping that there wasn’t anyone in there.

“I think two fire engines came to put the fire out and there was an ambulance there as well.”
