Advent calendar with a difference from Latter Day Saints

-

THE Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has run a social media campaign in December for the last two years called Light The World.

It’s a very simple idea - there is a short (two minute) introductory video that can be shared online and it simply encourages everyone everywhere to do one extra thing each each day in the run up to Christmas to help someone else..

The Light the World video can be found at https://www.mormon.org.uk/ together with an advent calendar called 25 ways in 25 days, with each day having a short quote from the words of Jesus in the Bible as an idea for the nature of the thing that you might do each day and a new one minute video each day highlighting the suggestion for that day.

You can view all the short films here: https://www.mormon.org. uk/christmas/25-ways-25-days.

So on one day for instance the quote is “I was thirsty and ye gave me drink” and the video shows clean water projects and ways to help.

Other days look at our relationships with other people.

There’s no need to stick to the specific ideas in the calendar, but it does get the mind ticking over, and people find all kinds of different ways of doing that one extra good thing each day.

The Light the World web page was viewed over 85 million times last year - we hope that it inspired a great many people to spread good will and kindness over the Christmas season and that it will so so again this year.

Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas season,

Julie Harrald
