Swimmers win medals galore
OVER 40 Loughborough Town swimmers attended the Bramcote Open Meet and won more than 70 medals for top six finishes, finishing third in the overall club competition.
The first event of the day was the 200m Individual Medley with all three girls competing gaining top six places: Elizabeth Palfrey - 3rd (9yrs), Francesca Palfrey - 6th (11 yrs) and Mia Larke - 3rd (14yrs+). In the boy’s event, James Lake was 2nd and Toby James - 5th (10 yrs); Willem Muddimer (12yrs) - 4th and George Larke and Thomas Chamberlain were 2nd and 3rd (13 yrs).
In the boys 200m freestyle, Finlay Gibson and Fitz Fantham finished 1st and 2nd in the 9 yrs age group with Alfie Smith finishing 6th. Thomas Macmanard won the 10yrs age group and George Larke was 3rd (13yrs). Elizabeth Palfrey took gold in the 9yr girl’s 200m freestyle with Niamh Muddimer in 6th place. Rebecca Van Aardt and Cleo Mizrahi were 3rd and 6th in the 10yrs event. Francesca Palfrey was 5th (11yrs); Adelaide Biggs - 4th and Harriet Smith - 5th (13yrs); Lucy Sharp 4th and Abbie Ruddle - 6th (14+).
In the 50m backstroke, Thomas Macmanard gained silver with Toby James finishing 5th in the same age group. Meanwhile in the 13yr age group George Larke was 4th and Thomas Chamberlain 5th.
For the 50m freestyle, Elizabeth Palfrey was 4th (9yrs), Harriet Smith (13yrs) - 5th and Lucy Sharp (14+) - 1st and Mia Larke - 4th. Fitz Fantham was 2nd and Finlay Gibson - 3rd (9yrs); Thomas Macmanard - 2nd and James Lake - 4th (10yrs); Harrison Cook - 5th (11yrs); Ross Baxter - 4th and Willem Muddimer - 5th (13yrs).
Abbie Ruddle took bronze in the 100m butterfly (14yrs+) and in the 50m event Lucy Sharp took gold. Libby Braimbridge (13) finished 6th in the 100m breaststroke with Mia Larke winning the 14yrs+ event. Elizabeth Palfrey was 4th in the 50m backstroke with Niamh Muddimer placing 6th (9yrs). Adelaide Biggs was 3rd and Harriet Smith - 4th (13yrs) and Lucy Sharp - 2nd (14yrs+).
In the boy’s 100m breaststroke George Larke finished 5th and Toby James won gold in the 10yrs 100m butterfly. Fitz Fantham and Finlay Gibson were 2nd and 3rd in the 9 yrs 50m butterfly whilst James Lake and Matthew Longman finished in the same positions in the 10yrs age group. Willem Muddimer was 4th in the 12yrs event. Thomas Macmanard took silver in the 100m backstroke; Leo Mochel - 4th (12yrs); Thomas Chamberlain - 4th (13yrs) and Will Stone - 6th (14 yrs+). Harriet Smith - 2nd and Adelaide Biggs - 4th (13yrs); Lucy Sharp - 2nd and Abbie Ruddle - 5th (14yrs+).
In the 50m breaststroke, Niamh Muddimer finished 6th (9yrs); Brooke Ward - 5th (10yrs); Mia Larke - 1st and Abbie Ruddle - 6th (14+). Alfie Smith finished 5th in the boy’s event (9yrs); Ross Baxter - 4th and Willem Muddimer - 6th (12yrs) and George Larke - 3rd (13yrs). Cleo Mizrahi was 4th in the 100m freestyle (10yrs); Hollie Bacon - 6th (12 yrs); Harriet Smith - 4th (13 yrs) and Mia Larke - 4th (14yrs+). Thomas Macmanard - 3rd and James Lake - 6th (10yrs); Willem Muddimer - 5th (12yrs).
