FB POCKET ORCHESTRA. The Centre Stage build up to Christmas is a highly enjoyable night of hot jazz, blues, ragtime and popular dances that hint of the jazz age 1920’s and swing era 1930’s, New Orleans, tea dances, Paris Cafes and sophisticated smoky nightclubs and hits Quorn Village Hall on Sunday, December 17, at 7.30pm.
Three superbly talented musicians splice quality crooning, a bewildering variety of instruments, a delightful period charm and a flirtatious twinkle in the eye (on the more risqué material) into a laid-back acoustic treat.
Working backwards from the 1930s, the FB Pocket Orchestra explores the repertoire that formed the embryo of what is now known as popular music. The members originally began playing together simply as an exercise in exploring heritage repertoire – taking on a few informal performances and recording dates as schedules allowed.
The FBPO became an ‘official’ project in the spring of 2012 and released its first album in October. The aims of the orchestra are to present a contemporary slant on popular acoustic music from the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
Seating will be cabaret style and you are invited to bring your own drinks and glasses (doors open 7pm).
