LIGHTS SWITCH-ON. Christmas arrived in Kegworth on Sunday with a festive event in the Market Place which included the annual switch-on ceremony for the Christmas tree lights.

There were festive and food stalls around the Market Place and a special visitor – Father Christmas. Community Carol singing was part of the afternoon’s activity.

The event was sponsored by Kegworth Parish Council, the Buckingham Group, Kegworth Plan Group, East Midlands Airport and a number of Kegworth businesses. COMMUNITY LIBRARY. Wednesda, December 13 is a special evening for our singing-for-fun group, EmbarrasSING. They’re going all Christmassy with EmbarraCarols.

Come on now, who doesn’t love singing carols ? And there will be some Christmas nibbles after the singing. Come along and join in, 7pm and just £2.

The library looks suitably festive although we’d still love your children or grandchildren to help us out by colouring some more decorations for the tree in the children’s area.

It’s December now and so officially ok to talk about Christmas but how about afterChristmas? You know how empty it looks when you take all the decorations down? Well, we’d like another art exhibition in the library to avoid that.

Are you a local artist or in an artists group? We’d love to hear from you if you would be interested in displaying your work in the library in the New Year. Drop into the library or give us a call on 01509 554176.

Also in the New Year we will be continuing with more Bingo sessions as the inaugural one proved so popular. They will run fortnightly, starting from January 10.

But we’re still in the run-up to Christmas at the moment and if you need a little help getting into the festive spirit then we have got all of our Christmas library books out on display so it’s easy to just pop in and pick up one that will be perfect for curling up on a cold evening with a glass of mulled wine. ROTARY SANTA FLOAT DATES.

The Rotary Santa Float will be in Kegworth on Monday, December 11 in Ashby Road, Suthers Road and Pritchard Drive areas, Wednesday 13th in Whatton Road & Broadhill Road areas and on Monday 18th in Mill Lane, Station Road, Side ley & Derby Road areas. Starting each evening at 6.15pm VILLAGE CHRISTMAS TREE.
