FREUD’S STYLISH APARTMENT

-

If you fancy immersing yourself in the world of London’s fashionable elite of rock stars, models and hipster artists then this apartment within the BBC’s former White City TV studios could be just the ticket. The 2,300 sq ft penthouse is being given ‘the look’ by 56-year-old fashion designer Bella Freud, inset, whose claim to cool is fairly strong – she has her own shop, fashion lines, is the daughter of painter Lucian Freud and the grand-daughter of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.

Bella’s early life has already been depicted in film, too. Her sister Esther wrote a memoir of their hippy childhood living in Morocco called Hideous Kinky. It was subsequently made into the 1998 film of the same name starring Kate Winslet.

Bella, who counts Kate Moss as one of her close friends, has been moving into interior design, and recently launched her own range of scented candles. Her designs for the apartment are still under wraps, but are to be influenced by both her fashion background and the TV heritage of the site. Its within a £1.5 billion mixed-use development, which is retain- ing both the original Blue Peter garden and crescent shape of the original TV Centre building. It is still largely under construction, although the first phase of apartments came on to the market several years ago.

Bella’s apartment is to be launched in the spring and will cost approximately £3m; a final price is yet to be decided. More information from Knight Frank, 020 7629 8171.
