Defeat is avenged
EAST MIDLANDS REGIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION TWO CHARNWOOD RUTLAND 2NDS 50 HINCHCLIFFE HYDRAULICS 35 CHARNWOOD Rutland Wariors 2nd team continued their East Midlands Regional Division Two campaign this weekend with a 50-35 win against Hinchcliffe Hydraulics.
The first quarter saw both teams coming out strong, with the defence on both sides hassling the attackers. Hinchcliffe managed to gain a three-goal lead in the first half of the quarter, however some strong turnovers in the Warriors’ defence, and conversion into goals from the attackers saw the score 10-10 by the end of the quarter.
The Warriors came out fighting in the second quarter, scoring seven goals on the bounce before Hinchcliffe could score any. However, a few mistakes then allowed Hinchcliffe to score more goals, reducing the Warriors’ lead. Nevertheless, the Warriors’ continued to work at a high intensity, finishing the quarter with a six-goal lead.
With Charnwood Rutland’s defence working tirelessly as a unit, and the attack adapting to changes made on the Hinchcliffe side, the Warriors’ were able to increase their lead in the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the Warriors were looking to secure the win. Patience with the ball in attack and relentless defence saw Charnwood ahead by 15 to avenge a defeat earlier in the season.
