Could you home this loveable giant?

-

DOGS Trust Loughborough has said a huge hello to the biggest dog it has ever welcomed to the centre - and he’s only a pup!

Having celebrated his first birthday in December, Opie, a Saint Bernard, tips the scales at 11 and a half stone and when standing on two paws towers above staff and all the other dogs at the centre.

At the tender age of one it is likely Opie still has some growing to do too so the team are looking for a family with an extra large sofa for the ‘big softie’.

Celine Di Crocco, Manager at Dogs Trust Loughborough, said: “He took our breath away when we first saw him. Obviously we knew he was going to be big but not this big! We have only had one other Saint Bernard here and he is definitely bigger than him so we are certain that despite him being a youngster he’s the biggest dog we’ve ever had the pleasure of finding a home for.”

Nose to tail Opie is five and a half feet tall and his heavy paws are eight inches long.

Opie has found himself without a home due to a change in family circumstances and in his new forever home he could live with young adults and potentially another dog and cats. He would welcome a very large sofa to relax on.
