Milestone for Ladies

-

THE New Year began with many positives.

Loughborough Ladies welcomed its 50th Member, with a beautifully decorated cake, made by Doreen and enjoyed at the January meeting.

The Group’s skittles team did amazingly well in its first season, by reaching the quarter finals. They will be aiming for the finals this year.

The January meeting was a hands on craft evening. Peter Wood gave an interesting and enjoyable demonstration of willow weaving, with each lady weaving a willow fish to take home.

The February meeting will be held on Thursday, February 1. A little out of season, there will be a talk about Witches and Witchcraft.

There are a number of Clubs run by the Group, including a Book Club, Coffee Club, Cinema Club, Craft Club, Supper Club and Theatre Group.

The Book Club continues to meet on a regular basis, reading a wide range of books. The next meeting will be at 7.30pm, on Thursday, 8th March 2018, to discuss “The Essex Serpent” by Sarah Perry. The Group meets at the Beacon Pub. All members of the WI are welcome, even if you have never been before, come along and give it a try.

The Cinema Club has not met for a while, but intends to re-start during the winter. Any member with suggestions of forthcoming films to see should bring them to the next meeting or give their ideas to a member of the Committee.

The Coffee Club will meet at Butler Henderson Café at the Great Central Railway at Quorn at 10.30am, on 19th February 2018.

The Craft Club continues to meet each month. The next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 7th February 2018, at the Community Room in Tesco’s on Park Road.

The Supper Club will be enjoying a Burn’s Night meal at the Radmoor Restaurant on Thursday, 25th January 2018.

The monthly meetings are held at 7.30pm, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Park Road, Loughborough.
