Society dinner
SILEBY Photographic Society held its annual dinner on Monday, January 15, when members and their guests attended and enjoyed an excellent meal at Ferrari’s Trattoria Restaurant, Quorn, the traditional venue for the Society’s New Year celebration.
Having been suitably fed and watered, the president of the society, Colin Machin, thanked members for producing such a high level of photographic work throughout the year. He also placed on record his thanks to everyone who had contributed admirably to the society’s annual exhibition held in October last year which had resulted in one of the most successful events of all time.
The judge of the Annual Competition, Steve Roper, CPAGB, APAGB, was then introduced before presenting the awards to the winners of the various categories comprising the competition which included prints, monochrome and colour, and digital images. Steve had judged this competition at the previous week’s meeting, no mean feat in view of the outstanding quality and the vast number of entries.
The winners of the Society’s internal competitions, including the annual ‘Graham Johnson’ 12-shot Challenge, held during the past year, were then presented with their awards by the President which brought to an end a lovely evening.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 29, when visiting lecturer, Caroline Bridges, will present ‘Boots to Ballet Shoes’.
An excellent and varied 2017-2018 programme continues through to June of this year, after which outdoor summer social activities take over.
Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome to attend the meetings which commence at 7.45pm for 8pm, and are held at Sileby Community Centre.
