Activities galore are lined up for families at Conkers

WHAT better way to recover from the January back to work/school blues than by going on a fun-filled trip to Conkers this month?

Conkers, the award-winning visitor attraction at the heart of The National Forest on the Leicesters­hire/Derbyshire border, is offering a range of indoor and outdoor activities for children and families to enjoy from now until February 25.

Over both half-term weeks, Conkers is hosting daily craft activities from 11am to 4pm every day and ranger activities including bushcraft survival skills and pond dipping.

Families visiting from the 17-25 February will enjoy a number of live shows including:

• Wednesday, February 21 – Sublime Science, check out the mad scientist of Dragon’s Den fame, 11.30am and 2pm

• Thursday, February 22 – Dippys Clown Show, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm

• Friday, February 23 – Trevor Hill’s Animal Roadshow, between noon and 4pm

• Saturday, February 24 – Bubble Pop with bubble making fun, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm

• Sunday, February 25 – Bubble Pop with bubble making fun, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm

There are 120 acres to explore, a 4D Cinema, indoor play, a 450 metre barefoot walk and Conkerchoo train.

Chris Sturdy, regional operations manager at Conkers, said: “We’re all looking forward to the February half-term break following our regular winter spruce-up. There are lots of activities and entertainm­ent galore, both inside and outside, for the whole family to enjoy.”

Conkers recently won a major tourism award as the best ‘Great Day Out – Large Attraction’ in Leicesters­hire. The award was presented at the annual Leicesters­hire Promotions Tourism and Hospitalit­y Awards 2017.

Conkers is the award-winning attraction at the heart of the National Forest, based near Moira in Leicesters­hire. It offers a unique mix of indoor and outdoor experience­s across 120 acres of maturing woodlands, lakes, ponds, play areas and an 18-stage assault course challenge. Indoors, a British Woodland has over 100 indoor interactiv­e exhibits in four seasonal zones or visitors can experience the Enchanted Forest, climbing through the treetops and along rope walkways.
