Warriors secure big win over their title challengers

CHARNWOOD Rutland Warriors maintained their unbeaten run in Division One on Sunday as they came out on top 61-37 in a top of the table clash against Hinckley Hurricanes.
They knew Hinckley posed as a threat to them keeping an undefeated season and taking the spot at national play offs as they only beat them by five goals previously. However, Warriors worked hard in preparation for the match going in with a confident game plan.
The Warriors got off to a great start remaining composed on their centres to put pressure on Hinckley immediately. By the end of the first quarter they were ahead by five after some hard work in defence to turn over ball.
The Warriors continued with their consistency with 100% of their centres in the second quarter going to goal and the team working tirelessly to pressure the Hinckley attack, by half time Warriors looked in control winning 31-18.
The third quarter saw fresh legs brought on the court with three changes made. It took a few minutes for the players to settle in to a rhythm allowing Hinckley to have a short burst of confidence.
However, Warriors re-focused and dug in with turn overs coming from the defence and patience in attack they were up 46-30 going in to the final quarter.
Warriors finished strong with speed throughout the court, over powering Hinckley they came out on top with a convincing win 61-37. The Warriors young team keep their undefeated season going and hopes of national play offs in sight.
