Dog fouling put in the spotlight

-

SHEPSHED residents have been urged to report dog fouling complaints to Charnwood Borough Council to ensure the problem is kept under control.

There have been recent problems in the Park Rise area of Shepshed and members of the public are urged to report problems with dog fouling to Charnwood Borough Council via the following link https:// vof.charnwood.gov.uk/form/ auto/es_dog_fouling_report.

A spokesperson for Charnwood Borough Council said: “We want to make sure that Charnwood is a clean and tidy place to live for everybody and we take the issue of dog fouling seriously.

“Our street wardens can issue a fixed penalty notice of £100 if they witness dog fouling taking place. However we can sometimes also issue fines if people can give us a witness statement providing specific information such as who’s allowing their dog to foul (if known), where they may live and detailed times and locations of where it happened.

“By providing these details then it gives us a better chance of being able to issue a fixed penalty notice.

“We target our patrols in the worst affected locations and this is normally in areas where there are on-going and repeated problems.

“We will continue to work hard to keep our streets clean and we’d encourage people to keep reporting any issues to us online at www.charnwood. gov.uk/dogcontrol.

“We also raise awareness through our Don’t Muck Around campaign and we ask that if you own a dog, please make sure you clean up after your pet.”
