Please support our town and object to the proposal
DEAR visitors to Loughborough town centre and market place,
It was not that long ago that Leicestershire County council told us all the benefits of pedestrian zones.
A the same time Loughborough BIDs told us all that it will bring a 14 per cent increase in footfall, ask LCC for a copy of the meeting minutes held at county hall about pedestrianisation this will confirm this statement, the biggest argument during the consultation meeting was where the bus stops were moved to.
They went on to ignore all our concerns.
The result of their actions has resulted in a loss of almost 30 market traders more for sale or let signs above shops and a vast drop in footfall,
Now there is a proposal to allow cyclists to ride through the pedestrian zones
How will this help improve the local economy, as I see it the few customers we have left will just move away from Loughborough and shop at safer markets and town centres.
I thought the county council was here to serve not ruin.
In my opinion this action will do even more harm to our town centre and your market.
Should any one feel the same as me or have been affected by the way (and it’s only going to get worse) cyclist ride through our centre please contact Leicester- shire County Council and at Loughborough BID and place your objections or otherwise to,
Please support your local market and town centre by stopping cycles through the town centre we need to make it a safer place to shop
