Students gain inspiration from a trip to Barcelona

-

STUDENTS from Loughborough College Sixth Form were inspired to see their economics and business lessons brought to life on a trip to Barcelona.

An exciting programme put together by A-level Business lecturer Kelly Harris highlighted famous venues and brands in action, including the Formula One Grand Prix circuit, the Seat plant and Camp Nou, the world’s third largest football stadium, offering the group a valuable insight into their studies.

“We visited a huge range of locations and went behind the scenes at some of the world’s leading business names, enabling our students to experience first hand the principles and ideas we had explored in the classroom,” said Economics lecturer Yasser Arif, who joined Kelly and 15 students in the vibrant Spanish city.

“We saw a car built before our very eyes at the Seat factory and spent time in the pits at the Formula One circuit as cars lapped past us, visited the football stadium and dropped into some of the city’s oldest businesses as we toured historic Barcelona.

“Through outstanding access to key business people sharing high-level expertise, the students were able to explore everything from major tourist attractions to housing, merchandising to events, manufacture to marketing and look at how they fitted into the economic picture not only for the region and the country but also for a Brexitinfluenced Europe.

“Our students were amazed and inspired by the visit and there’s no doubt they’ve returned to the classroom with a brand new perspective, increased knowledge and even greater enthusiasm.”
