Factory space is converted to shared open plan office

A FORMER hosiery factory in Loughborough has had its second floor converted to become open-plan shared office space.

Loughborough property specialists and agents for the offices, Mather Jamie, say the conversion is suitable for creative industries and start-ups.

The Jason Works, on Clarence Street near Loughborough Railway Station, is an attractive, listed Victorian property which has been fully refurbished, with its second floor offering flexible office accommodation, a communal kitchen area and a private meeting room.

Travis White, commercial surveyor for Mather Jamie, said: “The Jason Works loft is an innovative adaptation of an older, former industrial property to offer something to modern office workers.

“The individual bays on offer are ideal for young professionals and freelancers who might need a small yet functional space in which they can focus their creative energies.”

Last year a planning application was submitted to transform part of the same building into a huge residential two-floor apartment.

The named applicants were Mr Russo and Mr Lakha.

The planned apartment is to include a cinema area, a bar area, an open plan games area, and an external roof terrace.

That application is still being processed by Charnwood Borough Council who told the Echo this week: “We are awaiting further information regarding this application and working with the applicant.”

The ground floor of the building is currently in use by Powernetics, an electronics company, and other different parts of the building are occupied by other businesses.
