Weather data project in appeal for fresh support

-

A PROJECT aiming to provide real time weather data for Shepshed is urging people to come forward and back the scheme with sponsorship or providing venues for the sensor nodes involved producing the information.

Smart Shepshed is an Urban Monitoring project that was started in January 2018 by Andrew Grimley. The aim of the project is to measure and better understand Shepshed’s micro climate and what effects it has on the town and its inhabitants.

Sensors will measure temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure and rain fall and once collected will be displayed in real time via the project’s website smart shepshed. ddns.net and historical data will be freely available to anyone upon request and stored for future analysis

Andrew Grimley said the scheme needs help in a number of ways.

“The project has currently secured three locations around Shepshed but needs a further seven to complete the initial stage of the project. Sensor node locations can be both on/in individuals (garden) or commercial premises.

“The project is seeking also sponsorship from either individuals or businesses for the integration/maintenance and further development of the project.”
