Demonstration of abstract expressionism
PAINTING is very much alive in Loughborough with art demonstrations proving a big hit for one leading local art club.
Just three weeks ago Charnwood Drawing and Painting Club welcomed nationally acclaimed artist Tim Rose who wowed club members and visitors on a snowy evening with his amazing watercolour skills, creating a busy city scape of his home town of Sheffield in just 90 minutes.
David Chaplin, chair of the club, said the next event will inspire audiences to even further creativity when the club hosts leading artist Chris Tkacz at Woodbrooke Vale School, Grassmere Road, Loughborough on Tuesday evening, March 27.
At this event the artist will demonstrate abstract expres- sionism in landscapes and club members and guests are warmly welcome.
Chris Tkacz studied at The Birmingham School of Art and Design. This led to him teaching art in Leicestershire and later becoming head of art and design at a leading grammar school. Chris says that his early work embraced American Abstract Expressionism and is fused with a ‘hint’ of English Romanticism.
Now retired from 30 years teaching art, Chris works full-time on his painting that reflects the influences of his formative years. Those wishing to attend the event can check www.charnwooddrawingpaintingclub.com for further information. Doors open 6.30pm and demonstration starts at 7pm and finishes at 9pm. A small admission charge applies. Refreshments and free parking available.
