TOTAL MOTION MIDLAND FOOTBALL LEAGUE LOUGHBOROUGH UNI FC 2 SHEPSHED DYNAMO 2

LOUGHBOROUGH Uni FC and Shepshed Dynamo shared the points at the University last Tuesday night - a game Shepshed will feel they should have come away with all three points but were denied by an equaliser eight minutes from time.

The first chance of the game fell to Shay Brennan who was put through on goal on three minutes but he was denied by the assistant referees flag for offside.

Loughborough fought back with two chances from Alex Dinsmore on six and seven minutes.

Dynamo then took control of the game Liam Hurst’s effort blocked on eight minutes then a minute later captain Jake Betts was off target.

Jake King in the Uni goal was then called into action saving from Michael Reeve on 12 minutes and then Hurst on 22 minutes.

Reeve then had another chance go begging on 25 minutes.

Against the run of play the University took the lead Betts was deemed to have committed a foul which at best looked a free kick on the edge of the box but the match official pointed to the penalty spot and Cameron Gordon converted the spot kick on 28 minutes.

This spurred the Students on and both Jordan Slack and Gordon went close on 40 and 41 minutes but then Shepshed equalised on 42 minutes.

Karl Whymark’s free kick was flicked on by Niall Prenderville and Brennan bravely forced his header past the advancing King.

Shepshed should have gone into the break on front as an effort was blocked on the goal line the ball looked over the line but neither official acknowledged it.

Betts also had an effort blocked just before half time.

Shepshed continued to be the better side in the second half with Brennan’s effort blocked and King saving from Read on 55 minutes.

Denham Hinds was made to make his first meaningful save of the game on 57 minutes.

Dynamo again started to dominate the game with Brennan going close twice on 58 and 62 minutes, but they always had to be wary of sporadic University attacks with Harry Clibbens off target on 65 minutes.

Again Dynamo took a strangle hold on the game with Prenderville’s effort blocked on 65 minutes followed by Hurst’s effort blocked on 72 minutes.

A minute later Shepshed took the lead, substitute Josh Barr Rostron stealing a march on Loughborough’s defence to volley home Read’s corner at the far post.

Read then had an effort blocked by his own player on 81 minutes.

A minute later from a rare University attack they were level Matthew Crooke’s shot beating Hinds even though he got hands to the ball.

Shepshed had one final chance on 85 minutes but Read’s effort was blocked.

Dynamo may feel they deserved more from this game but had to settle for a share of the points in this local derby.
