Spot On MP edge closer to title glory
STEVE Hopkins hit two maximums for leaders Spot On MP as they beat Barrow Cons Wagg’s Gang 6-3 to edge three points clear at the top of Blue Ball Division One of the Loughborough and District Pubs & Clubs Darts League with just one more week of the season remaining. Steve joins Bottom Railway BA’s Andy Hibbert, who also hit a maximum last week, on 12 maximums for the season so far and they lead the field in the race for the coveted most maximums in the season trophy for Division One.
Blue Ball Lions are in second place in the division after ‘Lions’ Kev Bryan and Paul Hutchins both hit maximums and Kev a 142 finish in their 5-4 win over the Boat House Tap Tappers. Defending champions Bottom Railway BA lost 5-4 to the Royal Oak Shooters, and are now four points behind the leaders, but with the top two having to play each other anything could happen on the final night.
In Wanty’s Division Two, the much awaited division decider between the top two, Three Crowns Ghostbusters and Tap and Mallet JB, has been postponed until the last night of the season. This is on Thursday, March 29, and any postponed league fixtures must be played by this date for the result to count.
In S H Cox Division Three leaders Peacock Rockers beat the Three Nuns Reds 5-4 and are six points clear of second place Three Nuns Exiles who beat their fellow pub regulars Three Nuns Albion 8-1. The top two play each other in their final game so third place Twelve Degrees 26er’s will be looking at the result with interest and hoping for a big win themselves against bottom side Tap and Mallet CD.
In Generous Briton Division Four Crown Rejects beat the Peacock Feathers 5-4 and should wrap up the division with their games in hand. Gary Joynson hit a maximum for the Tap and Clapper in their 7-2 win against the Dewdrop Blues, and are they are now safely in second place after the Richmond Jukeboxers lost 6-3 to bottom side Boat Black Pearls.
In Navigation Division Five leaders Bottom Railway Leftovers beat the Windmill Luff’s 7-2 and second place Crown Jewels narrowly beat third place Tap and Clapper Rojo’s 5-4. The Jewels are now fifteen points behind the leaders but have a game in hand and a final night showdown against them.
Finally in Jim Kidger Division Six, Vicci Hallam hit a maximum for the Top Railway One Bad Apple as they all but wrapped up the division with an 8-1 win against the Royal Oak Oakers. They are ten points clear of the White Hart Stags who came through a tough game against second place Blue Ball MS 5-4 going in to the final games.
