Live Facebook chat to offer funding advice

COMMUNITY groups in Charnwood can find out how to apply for local funding by tuning into a live Facebook chat.

The discussion, organised by Charnwood Borough Council in partnership with Leicestershire County Council, will talk about funding on offer for local groups and offer advice about how to apply.

The talk will be broadcast live on the Charnwood Community Heroes Facebook page between 12noon - 1pm on Wednesday, April 11.

Coun Brian Page, lead member for Communities, Safety and Wellbeing said: “This event is a great chance for groups to find out more about local funding opportunities.

“Often groups may not know what funding is available to them, so this is a chance to speak to a representative of the SHIRE grants directly and get advice on how to apply.

“We hope the live discussion will also give people the chance to join in and ask questions too.

“This is our third live Facebook chat, following the success of our earlier broadcast, which has had a positive response from local groups.”

Coun Louise Richardson, cabinet member for communities at Leicestershire County Council, said: “The SHIRE grants are a hugely popular source of funding for community groups who are making a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged people. We are really looking forward to using Facebook live to promote the grant scheme next month.”

The event is part of a monthly ‘funding feature’ organised by Charnwood Borough Council’s communities and partnerships team. Each month information and advice is posted on the team’s Facebook page, to encourage community groups to make the most of funding available to them.

To join the Facebook Live chat, people can visit the Charnwood Community Heroes Facebook page on Wednesday, April 11. The talk will be broadcast live on the Facebook page from 12pm.

A recording of the interview will be available on the page for people who can’t tune in live.
