Town’s half marathon at weekend

THE Loughborough Half Marathon and Team Relay is taking place this Sunday (April 8)

The popular event starts at 9am, in the sports field at Charnwood College, Thorpe Hill.

And the organisers say that it has been re-branded as one of the toughest events in the East Midlands, after the route changed last year.

As well as the half marathon there is also a team relay event for those that still want to be challenged, but want to share it amongst friends.

The whole event is organised by local charity Living Without Abuse (LWA) and saw more than 700 runners take part in 2017.

The charity is hoping to get even more entries this year.

All of the money raised goes to supporting children and adults who have suffered, or who are suffering, from domestic abuse.

LWA are still looking for runners to enter and volunteers to help out marshalling on the day.

Gina King organiser of the event said: “We are really excited to be doing this event again in 2018 and can’t wait to see how many people sign up.

“We have some great sponsors on board including Duncan & Toplis, Liz Tuccy Wealth Management and A Plan insurance, but are always looking for more support.

“We are offering free massages both before and after the race courtesy of Function Jigsaw and the Loughborough University Physio clinic.”

Registration closes tomorrow (April 5) so sign up today to guarantee your place - www.loughboroughhalf.co.uk
