Charnwood Rotary presents cheque to village Rainbows

-

SHEPSHED Charnwood Rotary president Alan Darby was welcomed with great enthusiasm by the 1st Kegworth Rainbows (part of the Guiding movement) as he presented a cheque at their weekly meeting.

Team leader Elain Holness (back left) said that Rainbows are self supporting and was very pleased to confirm that the donation will help towards the purchase of craft and interest badge materials such as activity bags and learning card packs. These are all essentials to help the girls on their Rainbows journey.

Without the help and enthusiasm of unit leaders like Stephanie Cooper (back 3rd L) and volunteer Jessica Morgan (back far right) it would not be easy to provide an exciting, messy, noisy and fun programme for the girls aged 5 to 7 years.

The Guiding movement gives girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, build friendships, gain life skills and, of course, have fun!

It is hoped that the girls “go over the rainbow” and join the Brownies (7-10) and then the Guides (10-14), continuing in an organisation of over 500,000 members active all over the UK.

Alan said, “As a club we are proud to help an organisation that builds girls’ confidence and raises aspirations and we hope to continue to be involved in the future.”

The Rainbows group, which meets every Wednesday at the local school, currently has places available, so why not contact us at rotarysc@hotmail.co.uk and we will pass on your message.
