Division One title has to be decided on countback

-

THE 2017 Winter Season of the Loughborough and District Pubs & Clubs Darts League came to a dramatic conclusion last week and in the tightest finish in league history, Spot On MP are crowned champions of Blue Ball Division One.

Although the leaders Spot On MP narrowly lost 5-4 to second place Blue Ball Lions, and third place Bottom Railway BA beat Barrow Cons Wagg’s Gang 6-3, all three teams finished the night on the same number of points.

Spot On MP and ‘The Lions’ had won one more game than Bottom Railway BA during the season so it was between those two as to who had won, it therefore went to a countback on their ‘head to head games’ which Spot On won 11-7 (7-2 & 4-5) to be declared the champions.

In the race for the coveted most maximums in the season trophy for division one, Bottom Railway’s Andy Hibbert must wait and see if Spot On MP’s Steve Hopkins can hit a maximum in the Shardlow Brewery ‘Champion of Champions’ games, after both hit maximums on the final league night. Andy with fourteen maximums this season leads Steve on thirteen going into the final night.

In Wanty’s Division Two, the Three Crowns Ghostbusters beat the Tap and Mallet JB 5-4 to win the division. The result means that the Black Swan Gatecrashers hang on to second place with the Tap and Mallet in third place.

In S H Cox Division Three the Three Nuns Exiles overturned a six point deficit as they beat leaders Peacock Rockers 7-2 to snatch the division from them by a point. The ‘Rockers’ have to settle for second place with the Twelve Degrees 26er’s in third.

In Generous Briton Division Four the Crown Rejects wrapped up the division with a 6-3 win against the Dewdrop Blues. The Tap and Clapper secured second place with their 8-1 win against the Richmond Jukeboxers who finish in third despite the heavy loss.

In Navigation Division Five the Bottom Railway Leftovers won the top of the table clash with the Crown Jewels Barrow 6-3 to top the division. The Crown Jewels remain second with Blue Ball CS in third.

Finally in Jim Kidger Division Six, the Top Railway One Bad Apple beat the Three Nuns Bad Habits 6-3 to wrap up the division in style. The White Hart Stags won 8-1 to finish second with the Black Swan B&W in third.

Congratulations to all the winning teams in what has been another excellent season of darts in and around the Loughborough District.
