Old Brush Club could be sold for new homes
THE former Brush Sports and Social club, in Loughborough, is on the market with possible plans for housing.
The Fennel Street venue, which is believed to have been open since the late 1930s, closed back in January this year
At the time a statement to the Echo, The Trustees of the Brush Employee Trust said: “As many of you will be aware, the Brush Sports and Social Club, located at 18 Fennel Street, Loughborough has been a facility used and enjoyed by both existing and exemployees of the Brush Group for many years.
“Unfortunately, as has been the case with many other social clubs and pubs, the club has seen its popularity decline over the last decade, with the number of users falling dramatically and those using it spend less.”
Now the club which is described as having redevelopment potential, is being offered for sale through local agents Mather Jamie.
The substantial club premises cover approximately a quarter of an acre, over three storeys, and includes vehicle access to carparking from Church Gate.
A sketch scheme has been drawn up (subject to planning approval) which shows potential for residential redevelopment of the site improving the street scene and vista to All Saint’s Church and which would provide potential for 11 residences.

“Alternatively, with increasing demand for residential properties in the centre of Loughborough, this well located site represents an opportunity to bring new dwellings to the town, subject to relevant planning.
