Authors read ‘tasters’ of their work

-

A SUCCESSFUL evening of readings by local authors was held at Knightthorpe Methodist Church, Loughborough.

On Thursday, March 22, five local authors, Kay Davey (pen name K. D. Parker), Karen Ette, Min Ingram, Donna Shepherd and Stephen Ashurst, who form Ruler’s Wit, gave readings from their earlier publications and read ‘tasters’ from their new project. The greatly enjoyed evening was held at Knightthorpe Methodist Church in the community room.

Ruler’s Wit is an anagram of LU Writers, as the authors are all post- graduates with a connection to Loughborough University.

Last year four short-story anthologies were published, each having a seasonal theme: Spring Tales, Summer Tales, Autumn Tales and Winter Tales.

A very appreciative audience heard stories from these tales before being told about two new books that are being written about The Green Man basement bar in Loughborough, which closed 25 years ago on March 7, 1993. One book is pure fiction and the other is a companion book, which will tell of the bar’s history and be packed with memories of those who visited The Green Man from 1973 to 1993, and those who worked there.

Interviews are currently being conducted and the writers need more people to come forward to share their anecdotes and memories of this iconic bar.

If you have memories and photographs to share, please contact the writers on info@rulerswit.co.uk. You can also share your memories on the website: www.rulerswit.co.uk

All stories and photos will be acknowledged to the contributor in the companion book.
