Shepshed fightback to earn draw at Coleshill

-

TOTAL MOTION MIDLAND FOOTBALL LEAGUE

COLESHILL TOWN 2 SHEPSHED DYNAMO 2 SHEPSHED Dynamo came from 2-0 down at half time against second placed Coleshill Town to gain a deserved point and on the balance of play could have claimed all three Total Motion Midland Football League points.

Shepshed made four changes from Thursday evening’s defeat at the hands of local rivals Quorn. Bringing in Charlie Sheridan, Stuart Mcnaught, Adam Hohn and Michael Reeve.

Shepshed took the game to second placed in the table Coleshill from the start. Niall Prenderville going close in the first minutes. Then on six minutes Paul Hathaway tipped over Shay Brennan’s header from Liam Hurst’s free kick.

The travelling Shepshed fans thought they had took a deserved lead on 12 minutes when captain Jake Betts headed home Hurst’s cross but the assistant on the far side had his flag raised for offside. Brennan then came close on 17 minutes.

Against the run of play Coleshill took the lead on 18 minutes Denham Hinds came to claim Andre Gonzales’s cross but failed to hold onto the ball and Daniel Tymon rifled the ball into the top corner.

Brennan then went close for Dynamo on 24 minutes and Gonzales fired over for Town on 29 minutes.

Coleshill doubled their lead on 34 minutes. Shepshed squandered possesssion in midfield giving away a needless throw in the ball was laid into the path of Ryan Edmunds who took one touch and volleyed passed Hinds with an unsaveable 25 yard effort.

With Coleshill chasing promotion a two goal deficit looked ominous at half tme and the hosts started the second half strongly with Reece Leek going close on 49 minutes and Edmunds firing wide seven minutes later.

Dynamo were back in the game on 58 minutes Brennan was bundled over in the penalty area and got up to slot home the spot kick to reduce the arrears.

Hathaway then saved from Hurst one minute later.

Shepshed levelled on 68 minutes, Michael Reeve flicking the ball onto Brennan whose slide rule pass found Hurst who slotted the ball underneath the advancing Hathaway with neither Joe Halsall or Giovanni Dainty on the goal line able to stop the ball from going into the far corner.

Hurst nearly put Dynamo in front on 73 minutes his effort from just outside the box going over off Coleshill’s crossbar.

Shepshed continued to look likely to take all three points with Hill firing wide on 82 minutes and then Hathaway saving from Hill on 90 minutes.

As the game went into injury time Hinds pulled off a game saving save from Edmunds and Hill fired over Shepshed. In between this Coleshill were reduced to 10 men with Robert Evans booked for a foul and then given an instant second yellow card.

A deserved point for Shepshed being two goals down at the break somewhat against the run of play and against second in the league a solid performance saw them claw the deficit back and could have gone onto claim all three points.

With fixtures coming thick and fast Dynamo travel to Heanor Town on Tuesday evening before Sporting Khalsa visit the Dovecote Stadium on Saturday.
