THIS YEAR’S Loughborough Half has been hailed as a great success with 398 individuals and 19 teams taking part, helping to raise in the region of £10,000 for the charity Living Without Abuse (LWA).

Daniel Giles took the victory in a time of 1.21.16 ahead of Danial Bower in second place and Craig Hinds in third place.

The first lady home was Nicole Swaffield (fourth overall) in a time of 1.27.17 with Nicola Stevenson second and Suzannah Fleming third.

The winners of the team relay were ‘I run because I like food’ with ‘Making up the numbers’ second and ‘Somerbys’ in third place.

Event organiser Gina King from charity Living Without Abuse (LWA) said: “What a fantastic amazing day we all had and thank you to every single person that took part running, everyone that volunteered on the day, the Poplar running and cycling club, the sponsors and the supporters – we could not do this event without everyone that has been involved and we are truly grateful that so many people step up to help our charity.

“Thanks to Gemma Steel for starting the race and being at the finish line to hand out medals and thanks to Mark Rowley from the Fosse 107 breakfast show for also handing out medals.

“I am hoping that we have raised over £10,000 but I am still waiting to confirm the exact amount raised.”
