MORE than 140 guests have helped raise £3,800 at the annual fund-raising dinner hosted by the chairman of North West Leicestershire District Council.

The Air Ambulance, LOROS and the Salvation Army were the charities chosen to benefit from the event by Coun Virge Richichi, who has been chairman of the council for the past year.

The dinner was hosted at the Best Western Premier Yew Lodge Hotel at East Midlands Airport on Friday, April 6, and included a fund-raising auction with prizes donated by a number of local organisations and businesses including Norton and MotorSport Vision Donington Park. Entertainment included cabaret magic, table magicians, a fun casino and disco.

The money raised will be split evenly between the three chosen charities.

Coun Richichi said: “LOROS, The Air Ambulance Service and The Salvation Army are all charities very close to my heart, and I want to thank everyone that supported the dinner.

“Thank you also to the countless venues, restaurants, businesses and organisations that donated the fantastic prizes for the auction and raffle which were so crucial to the fund-raising effort.

“I am also grateful to the Best Western Premier Yew Lodge Hotel for providing such a wonderful venue and to Mick McCreath and his cabaret magicians for entertaining us all. I’m now looking forward to handing the money over to each of the charities that make such a huge difference in our communities.”

Dorothy Lacey MBE, one of the guests at the event, said: “The food, atmosphere and table magic were all fantastic, and it was great to support three such worthwhile charities.”
