Thanking all the local businesses for their support

- Lottie Gadsby

IN APRIL 2015 my world came crumbling down when my Nanna was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

I have always known of people whose lives had been affected by cancer but I could never imagine what it was like to experience first-hand. Unfortunately I can now say I have seen exactly how cancer can destroy people’s lives. I’m lucky enough to have a happy ending and despite going through hell and back my Nanna survived and is now fighting fit but unfortunately too many people do not get to say the same.

Since then as a small thank you I have been a keen fund-raiser for Cancer Research UK.

In 2016 I did the Pie and Pud Party with a few people to raise money and last year I did the pretty muddy 5K.

This year however I decided to fund-raise on my own. I organised a Valentine’s Ball in February raising just over £600 and I have just finished counting the pennies for my Bunting Beer & Beating Cancer from the weekend and have managed to raise nearly £3,000!

Back in September I thought it was brilliant idea to organise two events within two months of each other.

“Since then I have been working during my lunch hours and after work emailing local business asking for their help.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every local business for their support from helping me get prizes for my raffles and auction to supplying table decorations.

I would especially like to thank my table sponsors for my Bunting Beer & beating Cancer; Avalon Accounting, Bird Wilford and Sale, NFU, B K Adkin & Sons, Will Staples, Alan Cox Decorating Services, Andy Newbold Carpets & Vinyl, Mediskin Care, Foyles, Oakley Offset and HHL Accounting. Also a huge thanks to Freckeltons Estate Agents and Charnwood Brewery, and my auctioneer Tom Greenow from Melton Mowbray Market for their help at my most recent event as well.

I would also like to thank all involved who helped prepare my two venues on making them both look beautiful for my events.

I would not be able to make my events anywhere near as successful without the help and support of local business, whilst I appreci- ate they must be bombarded with requests on a regular basis they were still able to help me out.

I also would not be able to make the events successful without the support of amazing friends and family.

To be honest words can’t even begin to describe my gratitude for everyone’s endless support but to everyone that has been there for me please accept this huge heartfelt thank you from the bottom of my heart and as long as I am able to keep coming up with new ideas I will continue to show my support to an amazing charity so one day (and hopefully in my lifetime) people can say “I have cancer but it’s okay I am going to be fine”.
