A FLYTIPPER dumping waste in a bin compound has been fined £400 after being caught on camera by a resident.

The culprit, who has not been named, was fined for “flytipping household waste in a private residential communal bin area” after being tracked down by Charnwood Borough Council .

The incident was captured on camera at Canal Bridge Close, Loughborough , on Wednesday, February 7.

A pile of boxes, a set of golf clubs and a broken up piece of white furniture were amongst the discarded items.

The council issued the fixed penalty notice on Monday, March 12.

A spokesperson for the authority said in a message posted online: “Another £400 fine for someone who decided to flytip their rubbish in a communal residential bin area.

“What’s wrong with that you ask? Well, they don’t actually live there... they were caught on camera phone by a resident, who reported it to us.”

In another recent incident, an unnamed driver was caught on camera phone shovelling clay from the back of a lorry.

They were given a £400 fixed penalty notice on Wednesday, March 21, for the offence, which occurred on Thursday, February 15, Granite Way, Mountsorrel.

A spokesperson for Charnwood Borough Council said: “Fly-tipping is illegal and if you’re caught doing it, whether it’s on the spot or we find evidence that it’s your rubbish, you will face prosecution or a fine of £400.

“Beware of unauthorised waste carriers too, if someone doesn’t have a license to take away your rubbish and they fly-tip it, it’s you who will also be held responsible.

“We work hard to identify fly-tipping and clear it as soon as possible.”
