THIS YEAR’S Loughborough Half has raised around £11,500 for the charity Living Without Abuse (LWA).

Event organiser Gina King from the LWA told the Echo: “The event has so far raised around £11,500, which is absolutely awesome!

“A huge thank you goes to every single person that was involved in the event, the runners, the volunteers the sponsors and supporters as we could not do this event without every single one of them.

“The money raised from the Loughborough Half and Team Relay will go towards supporting children, women and men who have suffered from domestic abuse.

“The amount raised this year equates to LWA supporting 28 people as it costs around £400 to support just one person, so this is an amazing result and will really make a difference to a lot of people’s lives.

“We had 398 individuals and 19 teams running the rather hilly, undulating and very tough course on what turned out to be a lovely dry April morning. And the muddy hill was not as bad as it could have been – so I have been told!

“We are already planning the 2019 Loughborough Half which we are hoping will be on Sunday, April 7.”

The Loughborough Half Marathon and Team Relay Event was sponsored and supported by the following businesses:
